You want to showcase all the wonderful things you\u2019ve done in your career, but we don\u2019t need an exhaustive, detailed description of each job. Give us a highlight reel!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u201cWhen you\u2019re coming into the interview, you want to ensure that you have clearly outlined all the things you\u2019re most proud of,\u201d said Becky Sanchez, the Talent Acquisition Director at TrueCare. \u201cIt\u2019s important to keep those things in the forefront of your mind because, a lot of times, we\u2019ll be asking behavioral-based questions and asking about times when you did specific things or faced certain challenges. Candidates often don\u2019t even realize how much great work they\u2019ve done, especially when they were on autopilot in previous roles,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Take some time to review the job description, reflect on things that you will have to do in this role, and map out how you have demonstrated that you can perform these functions in your work history. Have those examples ready to talk about in the interview.<\/span><\/p>\n

    2. Prepare to Talk About Yourself<\/span><\/h3>\n

    After outlining your achievements, you want to be ready to talk about yourself. This is an often overlooked step when people want to <\/span>prepare for an interview at TrueCare<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u201cSomething we see a lot is that people can have a hard time talking about themselves,\u201d said Sanchez. \u201cThis makes sense, too, because of the old-school way of thinking that you want to show that you\u2019re a team player and you did everything as a team. But a lot of times, as a recruiter, if we hear somebody saying this, it means they didn\u2019t do the work themselves. So we\u2019ll ask questions about the specific role you played in certain achievements,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Be ready to share the details of your accomplishments and how <\/span>you<\/span><\/i> contributed to them. But, most importantly, be confident about your work history. It\u2019s OK to be proud \u2013 you\u2019ve done amazing things.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    3. Prepare to Talk About Gaps in Your Resume<\/span><\/h3>\n

    Next, look at your resume, identify any gaps, and be ready to discuss them candidly.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u201cFriends and family ask me questions all the time about what to say if an interviewer asks why they left a job because they\u2019re worried about saying something that sounds negative or unprofessional,\u201d said Sanchez. \u201cSay whatever you are comfortable with, but it should be the truth. We\u2019re all human, so we will be understanding,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

    We know that workplace dynamics can be difficult. Sometimes, people simply don\u2019t mesh, or sometimes, work environments aren\u2019t entirely positive. Whatever the reason you left, prepare a diplomatic but honest answer to these questions.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u201cIf you didn\u2019t get along with your manager, for example, you can still address that situation tactfully,\u201d said Sanchez. \u201cThe reality is most people leave jobs because of their manager. If there was an issue where you weren\u2019t feeling it anymore, there are things you can say that don\u2019t have to come across a certain way. You can simply say you weren\u2019t feeling supported or you didn\u2019t think you could thrive in that environment anymore.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    4. Be Responsive and Flexible<\/span><\/h3>\n

    Remember \u2013 even before you meet an interviewer for the first time, you are laying the groundwork for a positive interview experience for both of you. To prime an interviewer for a great and constructive discussion, you should make an effort to be responsive.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    If you are unresponsive, we may also feel you are no longer interested or disengaged. A big part of interviewing is demonstrating that you <\/span>want <\/span><\/i>to work with an employer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u201cA lot of people forget to check their spam folders, which creates not just lapses in communication but a lack of preparedness for the interviewee if we send important details they miss,\u201d said Sanchez. \u201cA good trick to ensure you are seeing and responding to everything in a timely manner is to add us to your contact list so our emails don\u2019t go to spam. If you don\u2019t have time to check your email, we also offer an option to receive text message updates,\u201d Sanchez added.<\/span><\/p>\n

    It\u2019s also important to add that, from a scheduling standpoint, it can be difficult to find times when everyone is available, especially with leadership at our organization, so try to be flexible, too. Don\u2019t worry; we are more than happy to extend that same courtesy to accommodate you and find a time that works for both parties!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u201cA lack of flexibility and responsiveness can substantially slow down this process,\u201d said Sanchez. \u201cEven at the background check stage, we get a lot of candidates where drug tests are issued at a certain time, and we only have a certain amount of days for these tests to be valid. If you don\u2019t respond, we have to restart that process,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    5. Have Your Professional References Prepared<\/span><\/h3>\n

    You will also want to ensure your references are sorted as you <\/span>prepare for an interview at TrueCare<\/span> because we do ask for them. Keep in mind that we only want professional references, meaning references from leadership and peers.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u201cYour references need to be from people who know how you work, how you fit into a company culture, and what you bring to the table professionally,\u201d said Sanchez. \u201cYou will need to have someone who you reported to as well as your peers. Essentially, we want people who can speak on your work experience,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Collecting references can be a drawn-out process in some cases, so give yourself and the people you are asking plenty of time to respond so you are not cutting it too close. It also helps to let your references know ahead of time to expect a call from us.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
